Start as you mean to go on....

Evening all!

Well baby steps, to be honest nothing much of merit is happening to me at the moment.  Time for an update?  Maybe, but it won't be too long - promise!

Well since I left and started my new job, things and opinions have changed.  Turns out my new (ish) job has even MORE of a colossal turnover than my last one did!  And that's saying something!  Now I am fully trained on projects I have grown tired of them, saying the same eight or nine things over and over, pretending to be fascinated about someone spending stupid money, more money than I make in a number of years on pure vanity....

Still, just seven months down the line and I think I am the fifth or fourth longest serving member of staff.... out of SIXTEEN to begin with, by Christmas, rate things are going I should be running the department!!  I see things happening in the office, things I've seen before.... meetings that used to be regular once a week and about an hour long at the least are slowly contracting.  As is the amount of information given to us grunts, and the amount of questions we are allowed to ask back.  Smells like a department in trouble, well the contract that provides our department with work is up for tender, and we SHOULD have had the results back in March as to whether we have it for another X years. 

We're now in July and STILL nothing, rumour has it that by tomorrow it's a done and dusted deal.  But that isn't coming from management, oh no, that comes from a fellow grunt who themselves are only temping for a few more weeks.... Why are management not saying anything?  Apparently they know NO more than we do, yet they still have their regular meetings, and I can't see them talking about the weather for over an hour thrice weekly - though I suppose  the way our "summer" is going so far, it is food for discussion.

Still when more news becomes available I shall let you know, there are other reasons that the current situation is grating on me but again, that's for another time.

In other, better news dearly beloved has passed her examinations!!!  Which, in short, means MORE MONNNNEEEEYYYYY!!!!  At last, after the endless tunnel of blackness that was looming debt and financial ruin, some light -  Just a pinprick at the moment, but that is infinitely more than has been this best part of two years and even better than that, is growing bigger.  Means now there will be more foot-stamping in terms of what money gets spent on and most importantly SAVED!!!  Ha, that's such a lovely thing to say, yes I am saying it as I am typing....

Actually we are in the process of decorating our front room at the moment, then attention is being turned towards a foreign holiday.  My first since 2002, the first for her this century, this millennium!

This isn't strictly mine but.....

Yes it's true......

I am  BBBBBBAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCKKKKKKKKK!!!!

Well I figured enough time had gone past where it was right to bring this back - at least for now anyway.  Think of it as probation, a certain amount of no obligation time where if I like doing this it will become a major fixture, if not, then no harm done.

What's happened since my last post?  Well LOTS actually but it will take far too long to go into into one post (or several of even my novelesque posts!), so I'll just start from here and as time goes on probably include what has happened up till now. 

As of now?  Well I finally have a job I am settled in, after several mini-jobs that I either stayed at for a few days or didn't show up for.  Actually, there was a job that lasted quite some time.  Doing electric meter reading - you know, people knock on your door ask to read your electric/gas meter for about a minute and then leave? Well that was my career for about a month, and to be honest I really liked it.  Walking around in the outdoors, doing exercise for the first time in a LONG time, picking my hours, big money, great fun. The downside was the fact that the target they set for everyday, was unattanable.  The way it works in all electric or gas companies is this.  You get a hand-held computer which the job sends to you at certain intervals, could be a weeks worth in one hit, could be a few days, could even be one day at a time.  The rule is that however many days work you get, you have to get 80% of people answering the door to you. And when you get that magic 80%, you get a shed load of money, if however you get anything under the 80, you basically get less than half the money.

Sounds good in theory doesn't it?  But then theory is a strange beast, according to theory Bees shouldn't fly, and Communism works....  The last one is an indication of where this little tale is going.... In training they could not drum into us trainees enough that "80% is SOOOOO easy to do that you could get that in the first few hours of a day and then have the afternoon off everyday, or if you get a weeks worth you could be done by Wednesday".....

Without going into masses of backstory, I had problems with my hand-held computer on my first day, and those problems still happened up to the day I left one month later.  Coupled with the fact maybe because of the dark evenings, no-one wanted to answer the door, and if no-one wants to answer their door I can't kick the door in to read their meter, and thus cannot get my 80%.  I made the first week, just, and only by phoning and complaining to my manager everyday and he basically wobbled the figures to I made target.  Same thing happened the next week, but  this time despite my complaining, I never made target which hit me badly in the pocket.  OK fine so I worked extra hard the next week, and again same thing with the hand-held and again no help from the manager.  This time was the gutting time as I couldn't have worked harder and yet the manager wasn't having any of it, by this time the low money was really starting to take its toll  So I made my decision to find something else, phoned the top manager, explained my situation, and left.  He did say if I ever wanted a job again give him a call and I would have it which was nice of him.  But I need guaranteed money even if it isn't as high as what the meter-reader job was paying.  I am boring that way, I need stability and that job wasn't for me.

Fast Forward a couple of months and I am celebrating a month at this new job.  Probation lasts a couple more months but I have settled in well, am surrounded by really nice people that know the difference between work and mess about time, the money is good for the actual work involved which is ALWAYS a plus.  There have been a few hiccups along the way, and I am only 65% certain a made the right choice in leaving my old job.  That is for another time though but for now I want to leave this on a happier note by saying hello again, and hopefully, this is the start of many more posts to come.

What's a leap of faith to you? Have you ever taken one?

To me, a leap of faith is a big decision you must do without the knowledge that once you begin, there is no way back, no safety net, no way of knowing if at the end, something good or something bad will come of it.

Yes I have taken a few in my time, I believe everyone should as they define and show the person you really are.

Evening All

For the last time I fear,  I have come to the conclusion that this blog isn't what I expected it to be.  What makes it worse is the fact I don't really know what I wanted it to be in the first place.

I had an idea it would be a place for thoughts and feelings to be shared, but realised that I do not want to do that on here, I've never been one for showing my feelings to things and don't know why I tyhought doing this would be any diffferent.  Like many, many people I used to keep a diary for the same reason and got bored and fed up of that, why?  Well who really was I writing it for?  Me?  That's pointless as I already know what was going on, a record?  Most likely but that's why we evolved or for the religious ones "god gave" a memory.   A diary just logs the exact times and dates of said occurances.

That's why Iam bringing this to a close, I don't feel I can be honest over this as it is too public, I can't use it for the original reason I wanted it and thats too expose my soul if you like, now I realise I do not wish to do that.  Would I listen to any advice put on here anyway?  I'd like to think so but by and large the answer is no I probably wouldn't. So again, what is the point of baring my inner-most to the world?

Thank-you to those that took the time to read this {yes BOTH of you!  (",) } it has been fun but now is the time to lower the curtain on this, I will pop back now again, and who knows I may still change my mind in the future, never say never as Sean Connery once said.
